Notes: For catsintheattic, who gave me this prompt: Draco's return to Britain. Could be that moment when he steps off a ship or plane or out of the floo network, could be his first dealing with the Ministry to get his papers cleared, could be his first round through Malfoy Manor. This was supposed to be a teenyfic, but it turned out to be such a good prompt that I promptly committed a teenyfic fail.

I am happy to present, at long last, the fic formerly known as the Narcissa Genfic from Hell. Today's post is Part I. There are five parts in all, and I will post another part every Monday for the next four Mondays.

Summary: The most convincing lies come dressed in layers of truth; the best-kept secrets hide themselves in a thicket of public knowledge, blending in so well as to become invisible. Caught between the Ministry and the Dark Lord, Narcissa Malfoy must find a way to save her family.

Notes: Canon-compliant through DH. Follows Narcissa’s life during HBP (Parts I through III) and DH (Part IV); it also covers the immediate aftermath of the Battle of Hogwarts(Part V). Part V is AU in that Snape survives. Most of the story is told from Narcissa’s POV, but starting in Part II, certain scenes are narrated from Snape’s POV. It is also set in the same 'verse as a previous story, Misbehaviour, but one need not have read that story to understand this one.
